Why Every Entrepreneur Needs A Coach
Guest Blog Post by The Fierce Collective Founder Amy Christman
3 reasons why investing in a coach will be the best investment you ever make.
You’ve decided to take the big leap into entrepreneurship, congrats! It’s exciting, but can also be overwhelming, isolating, frustrating, and confusing. You’re about to embark on a journey that allows you to live life on your terms, and it feels so good! But you’re also stepping into the role of CFO, CEO, photographer, social media manager, and wearing so many different hats that it can be hard to know which one to wear when and why.
I’ll be honest, when I started my business I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, and to be PERFECTLY HONEST, I still have days like that. However, those days are fewer and far between since I invested in a coach. The transformation I experienced was well worth the investment, and one I will never regret making. I finally had the confidence to announce my services to the world which led to me signing my first client and gaining more visibility for my brand. Having a coach in my corner is like having my very own support system that can help guide me on my journey into entrepreneurship, break down those big goals into actionable steps, and validate all of my crazy ideas. If you’re on the fence about investing in a coach, let me break down 3 reasons why you should invest today.
Accountability
We all need it. It’s why people hire personal trainers – we need someone to hold us accountable for our actions, our goals, and help us turn those big ideas into a reality. How many times have you said, “I’ll go to the gym after I just get this last email out…” Before you know it, you’re on your couch in your sweatpants and watching Netflix. Having someone to hold you accountable for putting your big ideas into motion can be a game-changer for your business. Every coach I’ve had has made me say deadlines out loud, add them to my calendar, and held me accountable for reaching my goals by that date. Not only that, they’ve helped me create a road map with action steps to help me reach those goals. Not only will a coach offer accountability for goals, but accountability for rest, self-care, and trusting your intuition. Depending on what type of coach you invest in, they will be able to hold you accountable for whatever problem you might be struggling with.
They have the force, you’re learning to wield the force
A coach will be the Yoda to your Skywalker. Having a coach means they’ve had the same or a similar experience to what you’re going through in your business. A coach will help you navigate new tools and systems, pick you up when you’re feeling down, or just be able to offer a solution to a problem you might be encountering. It’s likely they’ve been there before and they have the hindsight to help nudge you in the direction that is best for you and your business. Every coach has likely made a lot of mistakes in their business too, but they can share that wisdom with you so you can avoid a misstep in your business. They will be your sounding board as much as they are your cheerleader. Investing in a coach to guide you through the challenges of being a business owner can be one of the most valuable investments you make.
Grow your network
It’s likely you’re not the only client your coach takes on, which means they can help you grow your business through their network. Depending on what type of coach you invest in, it’s likely they will have a robust network of professionals within a similar industry, or they have access to them through someone in their network. Some coaches have blogs, or podcasts, virtual or live events that promote networking and will allow you to share your offerings within those platforms. The more you get in front of people, the more your confidence and your business will grow! Not only will your business grow, but you will build long-lasting relationships within those communities (as long as you continue to network regularly!) and those could potentially be your next business partner or best friend.
Hiring a coach is not just an investment for your business, it is an investment in yourself. The return on that investment will likely be paid back when you book your first client or launch your first course. The best decision I ever made was betting on myself and working towards building a business that I am passionate about and really proud of, and having a coach to guide me was invaluable to my business, but also to me personally. Having someone to rely on for advice, direction, community, and accountability has helped me embrace being a small business owner with confidence and clarity. I can now confidently say that I am a business coach for female fitness professionals who are looking to make an impact, and also make a living in the fitness industry! One of my biggest passions is lifting up women who are out there teaching group fitness and training others to live healthier lives, and I want to align and whip your business assets into shape! Lastly, I honestly would not have arrived at this point in my life and business without The Ready Set Coach program and my two coaches Emily Merrell & Lexie Smith, but also with the amazing community support that was integrated into our program. A big shout out to the women in our cohort who are continually honoring themselves by aligning their business with their passions.
